Glen William Jarvis

Glen has been the signatory architect for hundreds of residential remodels, new homes and commercial projects throughout the Bay Area. When Glen first opened his practice, he designed and built most of his projects. Although he no longer acts as a contractor, his experience is invaluable in making designs and details work for his clients and their contractors. In addition to providing a full range of architectural design and drawing services, Glen has extensive experience in interior design, landscape design and site planning. As a local homeowner, businessman, and community advocate, Glen has decades of experience with neighborhood groups. He has participated in Oakland’s General Plan Congress and also in the community review of many Rockridge buildings. In the past, Glen has been an Oakland planning commissioner and chairperson and is now a College Preparatory School board member.

Robin Pennell

Robin Pennell

Architect

Robin has forty plus years of experience in all aspects of design, preparation of construction documents and administration, with emphasis on single and multi-family residential projects. He has worked with Glen on historical, residential and commercial projects since 1978, and became a partner in the firm in 1991. Robin’s expertise includes new construction, renovation and rehabilitation, restoration and fire documentation as well as additions and remodels. Robin also has experience working with commercial and restaurant design and interiors, as well as medical facilities. Robin has done extensive remodeling to his own home, performing most of the work himself. Robin is currently a member of the Council on Architecture of the Oakland Museum of California, where he served as the council president for two years.

Jon Larson

Jon Larson

Architect

Jon has over thirty years experience in architecture. Since 1986 he has applied his architectural and design skills to numerous residential and commercial projects for Jarvis Architects and has become our in house consultant on sustainable building. Jon spent several years as a designer-builder with Earthworks, Inc. in Virginia and twenty years as a design consultant, residential designer and teacher with the Building Education Center in Berkeley and the San Francisco Institute of Architecture. He is also an excellent artist, renderer, singer, and musician, both in and out of the office. Jon’s book and magazine illustrations have been published nationally and his artwork has been exhibited throughout the Bay Area.

Arleta Chang

Arleta Chang

Architect

Arleta has worked with Jarvis Architects since 1989 on various residential and commercial projects, including new homes, townhouses, summer camp facilities, and remodels of historic homes. She served on the planning commission at the City of Piedmont for six years. She was a teaching assistant at UC Berkeley and an intern at several offices abroad. Arleta has acquired much hands-on construction experience from remodeling her own homes – and occasionally finishing them.

Lisa Trujillo

Lisa Trujillo

Architect

Lisa Trujillo earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon, spent time studying and working in architecture in England and completed her internship and licensing while working in various Seattle firms before making her way back to her native home of Berkeley.

Lisa brings a wide range of experience with both public and private projects.  In locations as far flung as the Pacific Northwest and North Central Iowa, as well as California, Lisa’s high-end residential,historic preservation, and recreation projects have common themes of context and sensitivity to site.  Accomplished in all aspects of the design process, including programming, design documentation, and construction administration, Lisa also has experience coordinating interior finishes and furniture.  She is licensed to practice architecture in California and Washington and is a LEED accredited professional.  Her passion for art and design is also expressed in her leisure time through fabric, sketching, and over her sauté pan.

Cindy Chan

Cindy Chan

Architect

Cindy has worked with Jarvis architects since 2002 on various remodeling and custom home projects. She has experience with steep hillside conditions, grading, and landscaping requirements. Her passion to weave the built and natural environments has drawn her to further her education in landscape design. Cindy has since created many beautiful gardens to complement client’s homes. She is keen on incorporating native plants, creating wild life habitats, and minimizing water use in gardens. Cindy is also the computer-modeling expert in the office. She provides artistic 3D renderings that allow clients the experience of walking through rooms to visualize finished spaces. In her spare time, she enjoys remodeling her own homes and gardening.

Michael Diamond

Office Manager

Michael graduated from California College of the arts in 2018 with a B.F.A. in Painting. He joined Jarvis Architects in 2022. When not providing administrative support to the Jarvis team, he is a frequent hiker and gardener. Michael is also an established artist, frequently showing paintings and sculptures in Galleries around the Bay Area and California.
